Rated 1 out of 5 by Mary from Disappointed I bought an Engel 65 in August 2015 before beginning a two month adventure into Northern Quebec. A week into the trip the plug leaked, soaking the back of my SUV and gear. I was not happy. The only way to stop the leak was to torque down the plug and leave it in. This prevented normal daily draining, so my food tended to get wet and spoil earlier. When the cooler was filled (heavy) I could use a pair of pliers to loosen the plug and drain the cooler. And each time I had to do this the plug spines would loosen and are now broken. I understand a plug needs to be snug, but having to torque it down to prevent it from leaking is unacceptable for an expensive cooler. I am not sure if the plug is the culprit. It may be a defective cooler. Other than the leak I like the cooler very much.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Capt Robert from Drain Plug & Latches don't hold up I bought my cooler about 6 years ago from Tuppens Marine in Lake Worth, FL. Within 2 years the latches failed. Engel replaced at no charge. Lately, the drain plug was so deteriorated by sunlight exposure it crumbled in my hands. Latches have again deteriorated. When not in use the cooler is stored in my garage with no exposure to the sun. Plug and latches need to be made from another material so that stands up to sunlight and long term use.
