Portable top-opening 12/24V DC - 110V/120V AC fridge-freezer

When your overnight trips start turning into overland excursions, you need gear that matches your thirst for adventure. The MT35 is built to keep your grub fresh or frozen when you head off the grid.

All Engel fridge/freezers feature the Engel Swing Motor Compressor. Highly efficient, it typically draws around 1 to 2 Amps per hour (check the specs below), about 40% less than a traditional compressor.

Engel fridge/freezers run on battery power (12V/24V DC) or 110V/120V AC, so whether youre on the road, on the water or safe at home, you can use your Engel to make life a little easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Performance We bought it in Feb 2013. We use it in a pop up camper mostly in the south western desert. It has stood up to horrible wash board roads never failing. Soon after we bought it we tested it in 110 degree heat . Turned it on at noon in a closed camper outside temp 110*.Took 30 minutes to cool to 39* and held that temp for the week we were there. We discovered it will keep ice cubes for up to 7 days. We place a 1 quart container of cubes in the bottom on fridge setting. Set temp to 38*. Unlike a front opening fridge the cold does not "fall-out" when door is opened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 21 Years old, vetran of 14 Rubicon Jeep Jamboree's What can I say absolutely no problems for 21 years. Keeps things at the temp YOU want. No more wet stuff ever. Plug it in to 120AC while packing for trips then plug it into cigarette socket, away you go. Jeep Deep cycle battery runs it for 4 days straight before I chicken out and charge it. My buddy bought one and 5 days out in Nevada Desert everyone else is looking for Ice and we're eating Ben and Jerry's cookies and cream for dessert. Only Ice we carry is for cocktails. I think of all the Ice and damaged coolers I would have had to buy over the years and its paid for itself at least 3 times over. When I bought mine the Aussies rated them by how many Beer cans they hold. I bought the 35 with insulated cover and have never looked back accept to reach over the seat and take out an Ice cold one. Then pop in a warm one to replace the one I took out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for solar panel use This was my first Engel, of about 20 years ago, and now I also have the 43-Qt version. When island camping I ran this one off a single 140 watt solar panel set up I have and a large deep-cycle boat battery. I kept it at about 35 degrees and it was still running after 3 full days or rain, with no solar recharge. No more ice runs to the dock for me or any temperature worries. I later upgraded to the 43 Qt model for home use and as a spare because it pulled the same low amp draw and amp draw is important. I sure do like that wire basket coming out when toting that thing up and back from the tent. The picture is of my 43-Qt doing home duty. The smaller Engel goes with me when I go to the big city and hit the larger grocery centers, gets those frozen specials home still frozen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MT35F-U1 I bought this unit in 2013 to use in my camper van. It sits between the driver and passenger seat perfectly with the opening facing the cabin. I have chosen to use the unit as a freezer as the camper van also has a 4-cf 12V fridge. The camper van has become my home and this unit has been in constant use as a freezer for the last 3 plus years. It works great. I plug it into 120V power for normal use, but have 12V power available if needed. When commercial power fails there's no problem, this unit has good enough insulation that things stay frozen with no sign of thawing, even after 12 hours. If I'm traveling it's still no problem, I turn on the auxiliary generator to provide the 120V system with power and I can run the cabin a/c in the summer as well as keep the unit running as it needs. The house batteries will easily run both the fridge and freezer without running the batteries down for at least 24 hours. I've not tried it longer than that before I turned on the auxiliary generator to charge the batteries back up. To date absolutely no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The MT35F-U1 is our second Engel fridge The first one is a MT45F-U1 we bought for our '73 VW Westfalia Camper almost a year ago. It fits perfectly between the kitchen block and the rear facing seat. We took the MT45F-U1 on a couple of trips and are very happy with it. It runs off of a second (deep cycle) battery. Prior to the Engel, we had a thermo-electric cooler, which managed to run down the battery pretty quickly. With the Engel I noticed that it only kicks in so and so often and then only runs for a minute or two. It keeps things nice and cool - no more soggy sandwiches floating on melted ice. Now this new for us MT35F-U1 is for our off-roading adventures in our Toyota FJ Cruiser 4x4. It also runs off of a second (deep cycle) battery. We just returned from a 4-day off-roading trip to Death Valley. This Engel is mounted on top of a metal drawer box in the back of the FJ Cruiser and tied down with cam buckles. For that, I turned the carrying handles upside down so as to accommodate the slightly curved rear hatch door and limited space in the trunk. Every inch counts. The Engel took quite a beating on the Death Valley off-road trails (many with badly eroded wash-board surfaces), but as far as we can tell it held up very well. We only have it for some two weeks now, but so far, so good. We chose the MT35F-U1 because it is only 16in high. This is very important to us, because - although it's mounted on top of the metal box which reduces the available head room - it allows us to open the lid enough to check for the contents inside and also load/remove items from the fridge without having to slide it out or worse, lift it out of the car. Although sliders are available, I'm trying to avoid them as they are very heavy and add unnecessary weight to an already heavy 4x4 vehicle. Detlef & Ursula Mews Pleasanton California

Rated 5 out of 5 by from low voltage use as promised, bought this cooler to make our annual trip along the intercostal Delete repeated word several friends in Catalina 22 sailboats where space is limited. as a rule we have to slep ice every day to keep food and drinks cold, we had frozen meat and icecold drinks for the whole trip that lasted 12 days this year and we were able to make our own ice for sundowners, it will be a permanent item on all our future trips.
